As Guns N' Roses continue their set, plenty of other musicians are keeping the spirit of Glasto alive at Worthy Farm.

From RnB and soul, pop to jazz, it's been a crazy afternoon.

And it's nowhere near over yet.

Elsewhere in Glastonbury, Loyle Carner is serenading a massive crowd.

The Croydon-based artist returns to the festival after first appearing in 2015.

He starts with song Hate, but receives nothing but love from the audience.

It's ridiculously hard to snap up a ticket to his gigs these days, so I hope the crowd are feeling lucky.

Live and Let Die followed renditions of Pretty Tied Up, Double Talkin Jive, and Estranged from Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion albums.

"I'm much too young to let love break myheart," Rose sings in the latter.

The band aren't as young as they once were, but are still delivering a high-energy set complete with an amazing light show and huge, colourful display, which showcases artwork from across their career.

That's right, the queen of the melancholy Lana Del Rey is about to perform now.

Her set will prove tough competition to Guns N' Roses - as her reputation stretches far and wide.

“We’re helping a certain individual celebrate the 50th anniversary of this song,” says Axl Rose, introducing Paul McCartney & Wings' famous James Bond theme, released in 1973 - Live and Let Die.

It’s no secret that Sir Paul McCartney’s on site this weekend.

He briefly jumped on stage with The Pretenders earlier, so everyone held their breath to see if he’d come out with Guns N’ Roses.

Sadly, it was not to be…

...whatever happened to “if you’ve got a job to do, you’ve got to do it well?”

Despite coming on stage half-an-hour late, Rina Sawayama didn't let that dampen her set.

She immediately began with fans screaming her lyrics back to her.

The Japanese/British singer is known for her blending of genres, from pop to house music.

She dazzled at the start in a fairy-like white dress, but then changed into a combat-style black outfit.

After taking us through pop hits, she brought in the rock, announcing "I wrote this next song because I was sick and tired of all these micro-aggressions".

The crowd isn't put off by the genre switch though, and rocks along with her.

I just bumped into members of Lizzo’s backing band.

JordanMonaeee, seen here on the right, told me the gig was “so much fun, the audience wasamazing”.

Oni Shaw, left, said: "They were on fire. We worked so hardfor today, it was so nice to be here and to be received so well.”

TiffanyPalmer praised the crowd who “gave us so much wonderful energy”.

He was on the same stage yesterday, as mystery band the ChurnUps turned out to be the Foo Fighters.

The word from our friends on site is that Brixton rapper Loyle Carner’s headline set at the West Holts stage, from 22.15 BST onwards, is set to be an unmissable, cathartic and potentially career-defining (to date) one.

Saturday night, or Samedi soir as the French would say, will also bring another headline performance from Gallic alt-pop star Christine and the Queens over on the Woodsies stage from 22.30.

US songstress Lana Del Rey will bring her own brand of summertime sadness to the Other Stage at the same time, so you can almost hear the sound of friendship groups breaking up (no such worries for you lot watching at home on-demand).

With all this going on elsewhere, it will be interesting to see how many people stay at the Pyramid Stage for the whole of main headliners, Guns N’ Roses' set. At least they were on time for once...

The band launch into heavy rock hits, as lead singer Axl Rose runs around stage.

No sooner had I written my last post than Slash played the opening riff to Welcome To The Jungle, and Axl let out his trademark wail.

    Fists are being pumped.

Guns N' Roses' first ever set at Glastonbury is now well underway.

After opening with It's So Easy, they kicked into Bad Obsession from the first Use Your Illusion album, followed by Chinese Democracy - the title track of their 2008 release, when frontman Axl Rose was the only remaining member of the group's original line-up.

"We'd like to thank you for inviting us," Rose tells the crowd.

We’ve just had the title track from their misfiring 2008 album Chinese Democracy; and now it’s a song from Slash’s post-GNR supergroup Velvet Revolver.

On one hand, it offers a glimpse into an alternative universe where the band had stayed together after 1993.

On the other, it assumes a knowledge of their back catalogue that I’m not sure this audience possesses.

The Pretenders finished up their set on the Park Stage earlier and were joined by a surprise guest... a Beatle!

Sir Paul McCartney had been watching from the wings (pun intended) and decided to come on stage at the end to give the crowd a wave, which went down well to say the least.

He wasn't the only other surprise guest though, as Dave Grohl, from the Foo Fighters, and former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr also joined the band earlier.

After releasing a four track EP earlier in the month - Split Decision - Dave and Central Cee have been trending on TikTok ever since.

And those lucky enough to be watching the set tonight get to see the duo perform as Dave has joined Central as a surprise guest.

Time for some UK Rap... as they would say.

  17. Guns N' Roses bring rock and punctuality to main stagepublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

    21:40 BST 24 June 2023

    Mark Savage

Guns N’ Roses, a band who made a career out of breaking curfews, have arrived on stage at an exceptionally punctual 21:30 BST, suggesting they intend to make the most of their allotted three hours.

They go straight into the Appetite For Destruction classic - It’s So Easy. Frontman Axl Rose is prowling the stage while guitarist Slash nonchalantly peels out riffs from under his top hat.

They’ve drawn a huge crowd - although it’s noticeably smaller than it was for Lizzo an hour ago.

Maybe they just assumed GNR would be late!

    21:33 BST 24 June 2023

Guns N' Roses have taken to the stage for their headline slot on the Pyramid Stage.

They are being cheered by a crowd of thousands and we're expecting them to play until 23:45.

We'll be watching along with you from the main newsroom in London, and our music reporters are on the ground.

The crowds are going wild for the American rock band.

There are plenty of people who flocked to see Lizzo earlier, and I managed to catch up with some of them.

Sally (who’s just had a baby) said the performance was "absolutely incredible".

"She’s an absolute inspiration for girls to feel comfortable in their own skin and I feel so proud that my son is going to grow up with women like that in the world," she said.

Her friend Shay described the pop singer as an advocate, "not just for women, but women of colour. And for the LGBTQIA community as well. It’s phenomenal, it’s empowering".
